A taster of potential activities and learning opportunities from the TELL1 project in the Lipis District


Many of the activities and initiatives from the TELL1 Mentoring project in the Lipis district are recorded on the Kuala Lipis English Teaching blog.

Using paper plates to teach English in the Jerantut cluster

The Jerantut cluster have been very busy using paper plates to teach a variety of English topics. The plates are a really great resource that can be used in so many different ways. Many of the activities strongly promote conversation skills and kinaesthetic learning. Their blog article his here.

I recommend reading the Jerantut district blog to give ideas for English teaching. If you wish to try out any of their initiatives, let your English mentor know!

Storytelling and Total Physical Response

Telling children stories is a really important way of giving children primary language material and as a springboard for a topic of discussion in whole class time. Children can learn even more when they are listening to a story if they are involved in 'total physical response' - acting out the story and key actions. This really helps the children remember the language!
